What We Do

Three commitments, one community.

Each part of our work answers directly to a clause in our mission. We don't add columns we can't fill.

African Cinema

Producing and presenting African films — bringing original storytelling and the African and diaspora screen tradition to Northeast Florida audiences.

Culture & Heritage

Cultural programming and partnerships that share African and diaspora traditions with the Jacksonville community — a steady, year-round contribution to the city's arts ecosystem.

Artist Visibility

Spotlighting African and diaspora artists working in film, performance, and the visual arts — making space for the work, and the people behind it.

About AACJAX

Rooted in Jacksonville. Recognized in 2016.

African Arts & Culture of Jacksonville (AACJAX) is a small, community-rooted nonprofit. We were granted federal 501(c)(3) recognition in January 2016 and operate from West Jacksonville. The IRS classifies our work under Arts, Cultural Organizations — Multipurpose — reflecting how our films, programming, and artist support move together rather than separately.

We keep the page honest: this is what we are today, on the public record. Programming, projects, and partners grow as the work earns them.
